What is Friends of NRA?

"This fantastic program is helping support range improvements, youth shooting programs, women's instructional shoots, hunter and firearms safety training, and much more. In short, we support educational programs that are valuable to your whole community. Together we can change the course of history and turn back the tide of misinformation about gun ownership in America! This is your chance to join in the fun and fellowship that are hallmarks of Friends of NRA and make a difference!!!" -
Craig Pace, Former NRA Alabama Field Rep

Passing the Baton:
In a relay race, one runner runs as a hard as he can, carrying a baton with him, to another runner posted at a pre-determined distance or location.  That 2nd runner is then handed the baton so that he, too, may run as hard as he can and hand it off to another runner.

This process continues until the race is complete.

How is this relevant and what is it doing here on the Coffee Dale Friends of NRA page?  It is easy to understand if you follow along.

I have seen the baton passed from one person to the next....Chairmen, Co-Chairmen, Secretaries and Treasurers.  Everyone running as hard as they can or putting forth a tremendous amount of effort and energy into meeting the goals and helping provide funds to further the shooting sports for the youth of the Wiregrass.

It is not an easy job and it is all volunteers.

We need your help.  We need people to pass the baton to.  Some of the Chapter officers have put in their resignations, effective at the conclusion of this years Patriot Dinner (previously called "the banquet," held in late September).

Coffee Dale Friends of NRA has helped provide funds to start an Archery program at Elba High School, has helped provide funds to further develop the shooting sports at Daleville and Carroll High Schools in Daleville and Ozark, respectively.  They have helped provide funding for the local Boy Scouts, and yes, in the past, they have even helped provide funds to further develop Tri-State Gun Club.

Organizations may continue to apply for funds, but without your help as officers and committee members, there will be no funds to be gathered and doled out.

We have seen a steady decline in the number of folks willing to help, willing to be on a committee, willing to put up flyers, man ticket booths, ask for and collect sponsorship money and products, and various other duties.  That number has dwindled down to just 4 people doing anything they can to help.  Unfortunately, it is further broken down to 2 ladies going out beating the bushes and pounding the pavement, while the other 2 work behind the scenes.

With the lack of help and support, it has become too much to bear.  They are going to hand the baton off.  If no one is there to grab it, the race is over and the chapter goes away.

DO YOU WANT TO HELP CARRY THE BATON???  Contact Pat Finch at the phone number at the top of this page.

2011 EVENTS:

Just wanted to thank everyone for helping make this year's Patriot Dinner a success.

We will have a change in leadership and, possibly, overall structure for the upcoming year.  It begins by announcing Mike Brewer as incoming Chairperson for the Coffee Dale chapter of Friends of NRA.   Other positions will be made known as they are solidified.

As had been said many times, but still bears repeating, if you can fog a mirror, you can help.  Currently, you can still contact Pat Finch at the number listed at the top of this page, should you be interested in helping.

Finally, to make this clear, so there is NO misunderstanding, Coffee Dale FNRA is made up of VOLUNTEERS.  The volunteers in the chapter answer to the Chapter Chairperson and that chairperson answers to the Friends of NRA Alabama State Representative.

FIREARM RAFFLES:

***4 Dec 2011***
We have our 1st firearm to raffle off this year.  Everyone knows what a Taurus Judge is but do you know what Smith & Wesson Governor is?  The Governor is similar to the Judge, except for the obvious manufacturer difference.  Other differences include a 6 shot cylinder and, with the Governor, you have the ability to shoot 45 ACP out of it with the supplied moonclips (one that holds 2 rounds and one that holds 6 rounds of 45 ACP).  This particular firearm has a blued finish.  To be clear, the S&W Governor has the capability of shooting .410 shotshells, 45 Colt, and 45 ACP.  We have 250 tickets and they are going quickly.  Tickets are 1 for $5.00 or 5 for $20.00.  As usual, the winner will be announced soon after the last ticket has been purchased.

***30 Jan 2012***
The winning ticket for the S&W Governor has been drawn and the winner is................Eric Baker.  Congratulations Eric.   Thanks to all who purchased tickets and special thanks to Pawn Express of Enterprise for providing the firearm.
