This will be a Postal Match ( does not take place at a set time, rather during the entire month of December).  This is very simple, you get one of the targets from the box attached to the coffee table on the rifle range, fill in the information as to date, name, rifle, ammo optic, you post the target at the appropriate distance [for 25 yds you will need to get one of the target holders or see Greg Swim], then load 5 rounds and shoot the targets that you wish, then retrieve your target and put it in the finished box.  That's all there is to it.  I will retrieve finished targets from time to time, score them and post the results.  I plan to have the targets available on 1 Dec.  I would suggest that before this month's meeting would be a good time.  I will be at Ft Benning at a match so I won't be able to organize anything.

Re: Black Death Challenge

Correction:  For the 25 and 50 YD shots, use the multi-discipline range.  This way you will have a berm directly behind the targets.  If you want to use something other than the tables or the ground, the club has 3 portable benches.  See Greg Swim, he can set you up.  Also, I have the targets and boxes now and will mount them this Sunday on the rifle range on the bench behind the range rules.  Please don't shoot them all up practicing.  Use other targets for that and save these for record.  Also, these targets don't have a place to indicate 100YDS.  Just write that in if you are shooting centerfire.  Also, witnesses are not required.

Thanks, Tom

Re: Black Death Challenge
OK.  So if I have a globe type front sight with an aperature insert (sized for SR-1 at 100yds.); what type insert would I use for these style targets at 25 yds? I have a Redfield 75 rear aperature BTW. I can't see how a front aperture ring would work with these even at 25 yds. A post type insert?  I am holding off scopes for now.

Re: Black Death Challenge

Talon,

You could go to the Black Death Challenge link on the first page, download a target and try out aperature inserts at 25 and 50 yds to see what will work. I talked to Tom this afternoon and he said you can also shoot at 100 yds. Just indicate it on the target. He has some staged at the 100 yd range.

Re: Black Death Challenge
More Answers.  Pistols are also authorized.  This is a FUN match so we'll be pretty liberal (black powder!!). The whole idea is to have a common basis (the target) and a chance to examine your shooting (and strategy) is a relaxed atmosphere.  In the future if this works out and everyone is maxing out the score, we might try the Smack the Smiley targets in the same type of format.
