JULY 2009 NEWS LETTER

REGULAR CLUB MEETING

We had 29 people present at this months meeting.  9 of them are new members!  We now have 293 general members and 74 life members for a total of 367 members!  Our club continues to grow at a healthy pace.

FINANCIAL REPORT:   The up to date financial report was read by the President.

The Financial Report

General Account                                                                                       $11,770.85

Range Account                                                                                          $28,810.33

As you can see from the report below, May was not a very good month for match proceeds.  Many of us have talked about whether it’s the weather, price of ammo, availability of components……..  Whatever it is, I hope match participation will pick up in June.

OLD BUISNESS

1.      Ricky Fulford  gave an update on the training facility/building.  Building Committee.  Ricky Fulford reported that 2 bids were received by the Friday deadline.  Of those, only the one from Builders Cash and Carry was responsive to the club specifications. The Board voted to accept the bid from BC&C.  After a discussion on how the club should proceed with contracting the work, a motion was made and seconded to expend club funds and obtain terms with Builders Cash & Carry.   The motion passed.

NEW BUISNESS

1.  Cindy announced that she had 200 FNRA raffle tickets for a new Springfield XD 40 for sale.  The tickets are $10.00 each and the drawing will be held at the Friends of NRA Banquet.

MODIFIEND SPORTING CLAYS:  Your Humble and apparently "Official" scribe has just received the results from the 14 June  Match. I have deciphered it to the best of my ability. I have no training in Cryptology! I was on the "injured reserve list" and didn't scribble this stuff down.

USPSA/IPSA   Our June match was a rifle/carbine only match.  The weather was great and the format was perfect for a warm summer day.  As you can see, the first and second places were virtually a tie between A.J. McCartney and Tony Ely

WOMEN’S TACTICAL SHOOTING:  Cancelled.

IDPA MATCH RESULTS:

Although Sunday's IDPA's match was a little warm, we still had 21 shooters.  Six were even new shooters.  Although the future of the IDPA matches at the club were in doubt, a group of enthusiastic shooters and volunteers to run next month's match, will keep it going awhile longer.  We cut our stages back to four because of the heat, but still managed to have a great match.  We even ran a "Clint Smith" battlefield malfunction pickup stage.  Congratulations to all the winners, especially Wendy Johnson, who won High Lady.

We hope that anyone who can help set up next month's match will be there to help John Johnson and Grady Wiggins to keep IDPA going.  Next month's match will be a pistol match with a possible multi-gun (pistol and rifle) in August.  It doesn't take a lot of help; just a few dedicated volunteers to be there to take the load off of 1 or 2 people.
