NEW BUSINESS:
1. New officers for 2009 are: President; Bob Lynch, Vice President; Butch Bonds, and Secretary/Treasurer; Sharon Goding. New officers will assume duties on the first of October.
2. Land acquisition: We are still working on purchasing of the 11 acres of land next to the skeet range. It was approved by the general membership for the BOD to offer up to $21,000 for the 11 acres. The BOD will keep you updated.
3. Don’t forget Tri-State Gun Club will be hosting the Youth Marksmanship Event on October 4, 2008. There should be .22 rifles, various military rifles - .22 targets, .223. For the older youths there will be 7.62x39 and .308 and sporting clays. Please mark your calendar and tell all your children and grandchildren and friends. There will also be demonstrations of bigger guns, to include a black powder canon.
4. November 1, 2008 is the Women on Target. This is an NRA sponsored event to encourage women to get more involved with shooting activities. This looks to be the only event of its type in the area. Please spread the word to all the women you know. This is a great event to help get women more informed about guns and guns safety.
5. The Friends of the National Rifle Association Banquet is September 25th at the VFW Post in Daleville. The tickets are $25 for the catered banquet. Raffle tickets on sale now for our 5 gun drawing. If you win you get your choice of one of the guns. We have 2 shotguns, 2 rifles and one pistol, so no matter what type of shooting you are interested in we have a gun for you. The tickets are $2.00 each, 3 for $5.00, or 15 for $20.00. To get your tickets call Susan Posey at 347-4039. Please support us in this. The club has again received another grant from the NRA Foundation (Friends of the NRA).
|
6. Range Officer Class: The class will be held October 18th and 19th. The course will be 8 hours on Saturday in the classroom at the Level Plains Community Center, and 8 hours Sunday at the range. There will be $20 charge to help cover expenses for the class, with the club picking up the balance, with additional charges for the NRA Certification paid to the NRA. Classes begin at 8:00 a.m.
7. All new members must come to a meeting to apply for membership and range briefing. The only exception to this will be for the potential member to apply directly to the Board of Directors in writing for another scheduled time. Greg Swim will not give any range briefing to single individuals without written approval of the BOD.
8. It has been observed that a lot of steel has been broken lately. Should you be one of the unfortunate ones to break something, please leave all the parts together and let Greg or someone else know. If you cannot find Greg leave a message at the rifle range on the board or by the coffee pot so he can get it repaired.
9. USPSC matches will be held every other month as follows: Daniel Keith will be the pistol match director. Pistol matches will be held this month and Tom Iten will do the 3-gun/ western match to begin in October.
Daniel and Sheryl did a terrific job in designing and set up of today's extravaganza. The Texas Star is always a challenge. It was great fun.
10. We have a new finish mower for the tractor and Ray Dillon has rebuilt the bush hog. There is always mowing and other work to be done at the range. We also have a ride-on mower and a push mower. We could really used additional help keeping the ranges looking their best. Anyone who volunteers to mow will receive a $5.00 chit for every 2 hours of work. Chits can be used to purchase anything at the club: clays, match fees, dues. |

It was a beautiful day for Sporting Clays and six shooters showed up to enjoy it. Our Match Director was AWOL and your humble scribe is recovering from a rib injury, so I sat out the match. We raised $65.00 for the Range Fund.

USPSC
I can't believe what great weather we had for today's match. Great turn out also. I'd like to thank everyone who showed up and appreciate all the help setting up and tearing down the stages. I especially want to thank Sharon for helping with the registration and the scoring. We wound up with 18 shooters which equates to $90.00 for the range fund. We had 2 new shooters, Mike Marler and Peter Veneziano. I think they enjoyed their first experience with USPSA shooting and I hope they become regulars. Here are the combined overall results and combined results by stage.
