JANUARY 2009

RANGE RULE OF THE MONTH:

S2.  Eye and ear protection are strongly recommended for general shooting.  Eye protection is mandatory for shooters and spectators when steel targets are being engaged on any range at any distance.

NEWS

We still do not have a Range Master.  We are having problems with overflowing trash cans, members not putting away equipment, and general messiness.  Please, everyone help to keep the range clean. If you see trash on the ground pick it up or it will blow all over the range.  Pick up and clean the toilets and clean up after yourself.    And by all means:  PICK UP AFTER YOURSELVES!!!

Life members:  I am working on the new membership cards.  I hope to have them done around the first of the year.

General Membership meetings are at 3:00 pm the first Sunday of every month.

LADIES TACTICAL SHOOTERS MATCH DECEMBER 27, 2008

It was a great day for shooting and we had seven shooters who weren't too exhausted from the holidays to tackle four stages.  We had a stage in the house and on the plate range for the first time and I think that everyone will agree that those little plates jump a lot.  The scores were close and congratulations to Sharon Goding for first place in the Sharpshooters and Holly Wilson for coming in first in Marksman.  All the ladies did great and used good, safe gun handling and had a great time.  Hope to see more ladies at the next match on January 24th at 10 am, so ask your family, friends, and neighbors out to shoot with the Ladies.

IDPA

DECEMBER 28, 2008 IDPA MULTI-GUN MATCH RESULTS

It was an absolutely beautiful day for shooting, even on the warm side.  Fourteen hardy souls showed up to shoot the IDPA Multi-Gun Match using the new standardized multi-gun rules.  Everyone agreed that the new rules worked great and we will continue to use them for future matches.  We shot five stages with a lot of movement and a lot of shooting.  We had three lady shooters, Sharon Goding, Wendy Johnson, and Ramona Cobb.  Ramona, who has been shooting the Ladies Tactical Matches, joined the ranks of IDPA and the Multi-Gun shooting and hung in there like a pro.  Thanks to Norman Stellner and David Turner for helping to set up and Wendy Johnson for registration.  Also thanks to John Johnson, Grady Wiggins, and Norman Stellner for helping RO the match.  Next month's match will be a regular IDPA pistol match ran by John Johnson and Grady Wiggins.

USPSC    13 Dec Multigun Match

We had a good match, but long day today.  Note to self: No more than 5 stages in the future.  Weather was a little on the cold side but at least it was dry.  Here are the final results as total times.  I'll break down the scores a little better tomorrow, but I thought you would like to see your times.  Thanks to Ray, Johnny, Tony and Greg on the setup.  It took a lot of time on Friday and we still had work to do today.  We had some new shooters and I want to welcome Nath Thompson, Gabriel Stahl, and Nick Burnett. Also, Johnny's son Garrett shot with us today using a .22 rifle and pistol.  He did really well and shows a lot of promise.

SPECIALTY MATCH

GLOCK-STYLE MATCH RESULTS-12/21/08

In a surprise invasion, the Schroll family came out for our Glock-Style Match, which increased our numbers.  The match started out great, but due to the high number of participants, we finished up 30 minutes past dark.  Kudos to all of the people who shot their last plates in the dark, using only the headlights from trucks.  We really appreciate the Schroll family, all 5 of them, for coming out to support our specialty match. Norman Stellner was the Match Director and the lead range officer, assisted by Bill Stokes, Ray Dillon, David Turner and Gerald Bonds.  $210.00 was raised for our Range Fund, which brings our total to $393.00 in just 2 matches
