FRIENDS OF THE NRA
Over the years we have received numerous grants for equipment from the Friends of the NRA. It is time that the club members give back to the Friends of NRA. You can do this by volunteering to help sell tickets for their special events or by helping out with the banquet. Please contact Cindy O’Bryant at 334-445-2905 or Pat Finch at 334-477-6647 to volunteer for this event. It will benefit our club also.
The Friends of the NRA are having a fund raiser yard sale at Farmers Furniture on May 16, 2009. They are looking for any items you may want to donation (except clothing). If you are willing to donate any items or to help at the lawn sale, contact Cindy O’Bryant at 334-445-2905 or Pat Finch at 334-477-6647. They will pick up any items if you do not have a way to get it to them.
It is time to start buying your tickets for the FNRA raffle. They are selling ticket for a fund raiser for a DPMS AR15 with Telescoping Stock. The drawing is to be held at the Enterprise Friends of the NRA banquet on September 24, 2009 at the Daleville, VFW. You do not have to be there to win. You may contact Cindy O’Bryant at 334-445-2905, Pat Finch at 334-477-6647, Sharon Goding at 334-300-2374, or Sue Posey for tickets.

OLD BUISNESS
- The NRA Women On Target Instructional Shooting Clinic will be held September 19, 2009, beginning at 8:00 a.m. For any information please contact Jim Edgington at 334-347-3367 or via e-mail at: aamsoldier@roadrunner
- The annual Youth Shoot will take place October 3, 2009. More details will follow as I received them.
- Land acquisition: The purchase of the 11 acres of land adjacent to the club has come to a halt. After numerous attempts and as many no shows from the owner, it has been decided that further pursuit of the land at this point is futile.
A motion was made to cancel any further attempt to purchase the land. An amendment to the motion was made that should there come a time in the future that the land owner contacts us for the purchase of the land, the Board of Directors will go forth with the purchase up to $11,000.00. These motions were seconded and voted; 25 yes, 0 no, 0 abstentions.
** 4. A MOTION WAS MADE AT THE BOARD OF DIRECTOR’S MEETING, AND SECONEDED, TO START BUILDING A TRAINING FACILITY WITH THE FINAL VOTE GOING TO THE MEMBERS AT THE MAY 3RD GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING TO START BUILDING A TRAINING FACILITY. The motion states as follows:
1. Club funds pay to have concrete foundation placed for the building.
2. Establish a building fund channeling all available funds into it. ie, donation, bonds, excess funds, etc.
3. Sell bonds in the amount of $500.00 and $1,000.00 to member to be put into the building fund, to be paid back as first in first paid. Plaques will be place of the wall in honor of the people who donated money, bought bonds, etc.
4. Contract building as soon as money is available in building fund.
The motion was seconded and will come to THE MEMBERSHIP TO VOTE AT THE MAY 3RD , GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING TO ESTABLISH WHETHER TO GO FORTH WITH BUILDING THE TRAINING FACILITY. PLEASE. ALL COME OUT AND VOTE ON THE NEW TRAINING FACILITY! ! !
We are looking at a 72’ x 40’ x 9’ metal building with covered porches. The first estimate we have is for $25,715.00 . The building will include; walls, siding, roofing, plumbing. We will have to finish off the inside by ourselves as time passes.
The concrete will be 80 ‘ x 40’, everything included and ready to set up the building. Concrete is estimated at $11,000.00
A SITE HAS BEEN SET UP IN THE FORUMS ON OUR WEB SITE TO DISCUSS THE ISSUE.
ANYONE IS FREE TO GET A DESIGN AND ESTIMATE FROM A CONTRACTOR THEY MAY KNOW and present it at the members at the May 3rd, meeting.

5. Butch Bonds is the chairman of the Training Facility building committee: Here is an update on his progress.
The BOD voted to pursue the construction of a clubhouse and training facility. The final approving vote by the membership will be at the May 3, 2009 club meeting.
Part of the program will be the sale of interest free bonds to club members to finance the building. Bonds issued in $500.00 and $1,000.00 increments will issued to club members with repayment on a first purchased, first pay back schedule. Plaques will be mounted in the clubhouse honoring these loyal club members. By request of several club members, I will start issuing these bonds prior to the final vote. Bonds 1, 2 and 3 have already been issued. Anyone wishing to support the club by purchasing these bonds may contact me by e-mail with amount, number and correct spelling of name and I will have the bond available to you either prior to or at the May meeting.
Everyone is encouraged to solicit donations from any and all contributors to the building fund (ie, law enforcement agencies, members, organizations, business's etc.) Some type of recognition will be forecoming. Any club members wishing to donate less than the bond amount to the fund is welcome and will also be recognized in some way. Butch Bonds bonds007@charter.net
6. The Dothan Gun Show is July 4 thru 5, 2009. We are looking for volunteers to help run the table at the gun show. Please contact one of the Board of Directors. We need your help.
7. We are still looking for a Range Master. It is getting time to mow the grass and keep up the maintenance at the range. We need volunteers to help! There is a push mower on the pistol range and a ride on mower up in the building on the rifle range. There is always something to do. Even clean bathrooms. Please do your part by volunteering to keep your club in tip top shape!
RANGE REPORT:
FALLING PLATES/STEEL CHALLENGE: April 5, 2009
We ran the first steel challenge match Sunday and had 8 shooters and ran 13 runs at the targets. For our first go, I think everything went pretty well although we did have several welds on the new stands break. We were able to plow through though with the help of vise grips and a clamp. The match brought in $65.00 for the club and I think everyone enjoyed the new venue. Here are the results:
