OLD BUISNESS

1.  Al Vine is our new Range Master.  Everyone give him a big welcome and introduce yourself when you see him at the range.

Al would like to inform the new folks and remind us older members, that we burn all paper and cardboard.  So put all that paper and cardboard in the burn cans or burn rings.  The garbage cans are for garbage.  This will cut down on trash and land fill.

2.  May and June will see a lot of activity on the Law Enforcement Range from different law enforcement agencies.

3.  Greg Swim made a motion to make a change in the club’s policy and to begin charging profit making commercial contractor agencies for use of our facilities for their training and qualifications.  There would be a $50.00 per day charge for weekdays and a $100.00 per day charge for weekends and holidays.  These organizations shall have the use of the Law Enforcement Range only, and shall have a Tri-State Gun Club Range Officer present at all times.  This is for profit making organizations only.  We will provide target boards and materials.

Non profit community service organizations shall still use our facility at no charge.

Every organization that uses our range shall sign a waiver.

This motion was seconded and all were in favor.

4.  Greg Swim made a motion for a change in the constitution.  The Constitutional change is only the first 2 Articles and helps to better define our community relations role in sponsoring programs (without specifically naming them, names change) such as Women on Target, Youth Shooting and Hunter Education.  The Law Enforcement interface will be sensitive to a handful of our members with a bad taste left over from the Enterprise Rifle and Pistol Club troubles with the city a few years ago.  Long story, check Sonny Harget/others.

There is concern (we “own” our land/the City owned theirs) but have specified the as no-interference/space available.  We think the relationship is nothing but positive.  Especially in today high risk 2nd amendment related environment.  These guy hold us up as one of the State’s most positive examples of responsible shooters, mentors/trainers, and activity sponsors.  Our community and government relations are crucial to our future.  The second amendment related challenges are in their infancy.  Like the man said, “You ain’t seen nothing yet”.  Scalia said we could keep our guns but he didn’t say we could shoot em.

The motion was seconded and the general membership will be voting on the changes in the Constitution at the June meeting.

ARTICLE 1 AND 2 WOULD STATE AS FOLLOWS:

ARTICLE 1

The Tri-State Gun Club, founded in 1979 is an organization (herein after called The Association), in corporate, and self-chartered by the rights granted by Articles I and II of the Bill of Rights of the United States of America.

The Association is a non-profit organization.  A nominal annual dues fee is charged per member to provide for the maintenance, improvement, and expansion of the Association’s real estate, infrastructure, and facilities.  The Association is dedicated to providing its’ personnel and facilities for the following endeavors:

The safe, responsible, and legal conduct of shooting sports activities, both casual and competitive, in an atmosphere of comradery and marksmanship skills.

Training of junior and other inexperienced shooters to develop responsible, safe firearms handling and marksmanship skills.

Perpetuate a positive community relations program by providing certified personnel and facilities for the conduct of Hunter Education and other conservation and wildlife oriented programs and by providing certified personnel and facilities for firearms training qualification of multiple Law Enforcement and Homeland Security agencies.

The Association exists to promote shooting sports and an appreciation of America’s heritage of armed citizens.

ARTICLE 2

The Association’s membership consists of and is open to American citizens of good character who have an interest in shooting sports and collecting, preserving, using or studying firearms and related equipment.  Non-citizens may be accepted by vote of the Board of Directors.  Membership is required only for the conduct of casual shooting activities.  All club events and competitions are open to the general public.

The change in the Constitution, Articles I and II will be voted on at the June meeting.

5.  Brent Underwood made a motion and the motion was seconded to plant a site and sound barrier on the west side of the pistol range to include 2 rows of cypress tress and irrigation.  Brent will obtain bids for this project and will present it to the next meeting.

6.  A motion was made and seconded to build a training facility.  A vote was called:  35 yes,  2 no.  Motion passed.  We will build a training facility.

7.  A motion was made and seconded to appoint a building committee with the building committee have authority to take action as money is available.  The committee will report to the BOD and General Membership on the progress of the training facility.

A vote was called:  25 yes,  5 no.  Motion passed.

The building committee will consist of Butch Bonds as chairman, Jim Swift, Greg Swim, Ricky Fulford, Dennis Keplinger, Sharon Goding, Brent Underwood and Ed Bright.

MODIFIEND SPORTING CLAYS:   There was no match due to lack of participation on Easter Sunday.  A few showed up and we just plunked away.  Good thing it was not a real match!!

USPSA/IPSA

It turned out to be a beautiful day and we had a great turnout.  The Florida guys turned out in force bringing a lot of new shooters.  I hope it was a good experience for all and they become a permanent addition to our matches.  We had a wide range of stages from a speed pistol only stage to multigun on Bay 4.  The rifle was a challenge as always with 8" plates at 100 yds and mini-poppers at 50.  Here are the final results by Division:

SPECIALTY MATCH:

Hope everyone had a great time.  Weather was great and we had a good turnout of experienced and new shooters.  The match brought in $125.00 for the club.  The course of fire consisted of 4 IPSC paper targets from 10 to 20 yds away made much smaller with the generous use of No-Shoot targets over them, 4 small steel swinger targets at the 50 yd berm, and 3-10" and 2-6" flash targets at 110 yds.  All were shot through or over two ported barricades.  This was the same rifle course we ran at the previous week's 3 Gun Match. Although only 17 rounds minimum were required, most got a chance to expend a few more rounds than that.  Also, most shooters chose to run the course again.  We had both a pure iron sight division and an optics division.   Here are the results:

WOMEN’S TACTICAL SHOOTING:

We had our first Ladies Tactical Shooters Match in 3 months today.  Although the weather was a little on the warm side, we had 8 shooters.  Three of our shooters were new to shooting, but you would not have known it by the way they shot, and they were brave enough to shoot a revolver.  We hope to see all 3 of them back next month, as well as everyone else who has been coming or who has been away during the cooler weather.  We hope to have a big crowd for the May Match.

IDPA MATCH RESULTS:

Sunday turned out to be a beautiful day to shoot and John Johnson and Grady Wiggins once again had some interesting stages.  Some were enhanced versions of what the Ladies Tactical Shooters shot on Saturday.  Thanks for everyone that helped us set up, run, and tear down the stages.  It really makes the job go faster when we have such great help.  Congratulations to Grady for being the overall winner with only 95.78 seconds for 6 stages and also to Henry Rowe for only being 1 point down in the entire match.  Grady and Lindy Bailey were also close on his heels with only 2 points down- Way to Go!  Hope to see you all at the match in May.
