STEEL CHALLENGE:   August 2 Match

The Sunday Steel Challenge Match went really well.  We had 27 paid strings which brought in $135.00 for the club.  Best of all, I think everyone had a great time.  There is a lot of talent and I think this discipline could really catch on.  As I said in the club meeting, this is a great forum for new shooters and a good place for younger shooters to get into competition.  There is no running, targets are fairly easy to hit, and feedback is immediate.  We ran several divisions: Stock Service Pistol, Revolver, Single Action Cowboy, .22 Rimfire, Pistol Caliber Carbine, and Western Carbine. Here are the results:

MODIFIEND SPORTING CLAYS:   Match Results 12 July 2009

Despite the rather warm weather we did manage to have a small match. We utilized the "Sporting Clays" booths that Brent Underwood made. Greg Swim allowed all who wanted a shot or two with his 20 gauge flintlock flowler. Much FUN!

Check the Forums before next months match: We may try a morning match or cancel due to the heat.

USPSA/IPSA  July 11, 2009

We had a good match. Temp in my truck was 85 after the match. The first 3 stages were shaded and actually comfortable. The stages were simple but still challenging. I think that most people made a few extra shots to get through the stages. We had a good crew of new shooters, who shot really well. Those guys shot a lot of A's.

Thanks for the help setting up and tearing down.

SPECIALTY MATCH:  July 19, 2009

The  Sunday Steel Challenge match was a big success.  The weather cooperated and the shade on Bay 3 made a very comfortable shoot.  We ran 4 separate divisions, Open, Stock Service Pistol, Revolver and .22 rimfire.  As with most of the specialty matches, competitors could shoot multiple divisions.  Best of all, we made $145.00 for the club.  Here are the results:

WOMEN’S TACTICAL SHOOTING:   July 25, 2009

John Johnson designed the LTS stages this month and ran the match.  I think it was an enlightening experience for John.  Since we have had such small turnouts for the past few months, we are going to postpone all matches until October.  Maybe by then the weather will be more appealing for more people and we will evaluate the turnout then to see if we will have future matches.

IDPA MATCH RESULTS:  July 26, 2009

This month's stages were designed and set up by John Johnson, with the assistance of Barry Walker and Dan Mitchell.  Thanks also to all who helped tear down the stages and put away the props.  It turned out to be a little warm, but bearable.  We had a small turnout so we stayed with one squad, but I think that everyone had a good time, especially on the Hogan's Alley stage.

The August IDPA Match will be Multi-Gun, but three of the five stages will be the IDPA Classifier for all who need it.  The other two stages will be pistol and shotgun.  Hope to see you there, especially if you need the classifier.  After August the IDPA matches are uncertain.  Watch for future postings.
