OLD BUISNESS

FYI      ALL RANGES ARE AT CEASE FIRE DURING THE MONTHLY MEETING!

1.  Women on Target was a huge success!  63 Women showed up and had a wonderful time!  Thank you Jim Edgington for giving your time and expertise to educate women on gun safety and giving them the opportunity to shoot.  Thank you, to all the volunteers who gave up their Saturday to help out!

2.  Fourteen kids showed up for the annual youth shoot.  Thank you Jim Edgington, Ft. Rucker MWR and all the volunteers to helped out!

3.  October is the month for renewal of your membership.  Please start getting your renewal fees in.  Just mail a membership form along with your check or money order to Tri-State Gun Club, P.O. Boxes 231, Daleville, AL 36322.  Remember membership fees are $150.00.  If your NRA dues are up you can include $25.00 and I will renew them for you through the club.  Combinations to the gates will be changed the first of November.

4.  We still looking for a new Range Master.  In the meantime, please assist in keeping the range policed while you are there.  Empty trash bins, pick up trash you see around the range.  Grass always needs to be cut.  And PLEASE do not put plastic bottles in the burn rings!  Put paper products only.

5.  The Specialty Match Awards were given out at this months meeting.   Using the Lewis Scoring System, we have divided the points into 3 Classes, A, B, and C.  As you can see Gerald Bonds barely beat out Bill Stokes in A Class , and Tom Iten was first in B Class, and Jim Edgington was first in C Class.  We will also have the drawing for the Teddy Roosevelt statue with all 36 entries included.  Bill Stokes won the statue.

6.  Training Facility:  The foundation is in, the framing is up and the training facility should be up and running within the month.  We will need a lot of help to finish off the inside.  If you have any special talents and would like to help please contact one of the Board of Directors or one of the Building Committee Members.

The Pro Shop will be open next month in the new training facility.  Hours of operation are one hour before and one hour after the meetings.  Operation of the Pro Shop will run by Ray Dillon, Norman Stellner, Bill Stokes, and one other person yet to be determined.  Should you need clays or a T-shirt or hat you must be at the meeting when the Pro Shop is open.  Should one of the above referenced persons be at the range at any other time, they would be happy to open the Pro Shop for you to buy clays or any other item.  If they are not at the range do not call them and expect them to come to the range to open especially for you.  Please plan ahead so you can get what you need at the monthly meetings.

7.  Ray Dillon will no longer be a Black Hawk dealer.  Area 51 has bought him out.  They can be located at Area 51 Products LLC, 102 Dandelion Court, Taylor, AL 36305.  The web sites are:  www.area51tactical.com or Jeff Wojtylak at jeff@area51tactical.com.  Mention that you are a member of Tri-State Gun Club.

8.  Mary Bishop spoke at the meeting about an NRA sponsored program, Youth Education Summit.  This is a great program to get Scholarships.  Applications are available starting in March on their web site.  The winner gets a trip to Washington DC.

9.  Judge Roy Moore’s representative Lee Parker appeared before the members to discuss Judge Moore’s political agenda.  Judge Moore is running for Alabama Governors Office in the next election and would like your support.

 10.  The Ladies Tactical Match will start up again the forth Saturday in October.  Please tell all your lady friends, wives and daughters to come on out and have some fun.  We welcome first time shooters.   Safety is our number one priority.

MODIFIEND SPORTING CLAYS:

The heat and humidity caused us to decide to just shoot one round of clays from two positions today. We had ten shooters, two of them "First Time" Match shooters. Remember, on all our shoots your First Match is FREE! Our new Vice President beat out Ray in a Sudden Death shoot out over their tie score. Bob and John should have had an SD shoot out, but the idiot keeping score didn't notice the tie until he was home posting the results. Mea Culpa!

We Raised $80.00 for the Club.

The red * indicates a First Time shooter.

SPECIALTY MATCH:  September 21, 09

We had five shooters show up for the match. Fred Latremore had invited two flight school students out and fortunately, I had two loaner Garands available for them. They had never shot an M1 before, nor do I think ever shot in a match before. Anyway, here are the results: Bill Stokes----------253-2X Ray Dillion----------233 Tommy Kerfoot--------212-2X Victor Ganoy---------195-1X Fred Latremore-------192 Jarone Amarino-------180-1X Possible 300 pts. No CMP awards given out because they start at 257 for a bronze, so Bill just missed it. Thanks to Gerald Bonds and Greg Swim for helping out on the line.Jim Edgington Match Director

SPECIALTY MATCH POINTS:  Final Specialty Match Points

The final match points for the 2008-2009 Specialty Match are listed below.  Using the Lewis Scoring System, we have divided the points into 3 Classes, A, B, and C.  As you can see Gerald Bonds barely beat out Bill Stokes in A Class , and Tom Iten was first in B Class, and Jim Edgington was first in C Class.  $928 was raised by the Specialty Matches, which was less last year, but two of our matches were cancelled.

WOMEN’S TACTICAL SHOOTING match will again continue the forth Saturday of October.  See you then!

IDPA MATCH RESULTS:  September 29, 09

The day started out cloudy, but it warmed up really fast.  We had 13 shooters, but three had to leave early to study for flight school and Rob Partridge had major issues with his gun and could not continue.  We had 5 stages with a wide variety of challenges that everyone seemed to enjoy.  Although next month's match will be on the same weekend as the Georgia State Match (Saturday, October 24th), we will still be running the regular IDPA monthly match on Sunday, October 25th.  Thanks to Dan Mitchell for coming early to help me set us and thanks also to A.J. McCartney for helping me RO the match.  Thanks also to all the hardy folk who helped in setting up and tearing down the stages.  Come out and join us next month and bring a friend.
