CLUB BUISNESS

FYI:  ALL RANGES ARE AT CEASE FIRE DURING THE MONTHLY MEETING!

1.  JANUARY 30, 2010 IS A WORK DAY.  WE NEED AS MUCH HELP AS POSSIBLE FILLING SANDBAGS AND HOISTING THEM ONTO THE BERMS.  WE WILL BE WORKING ON THE 25 AND 50 YARD RANGES ON THE MULTI-PURPOSE RANGE.  WE WILL ALSO BE REPAIRING FENCE LINES ALONG OUR PROPERTY.  If we do not get these ranges repaired we will have to close them until repairs are completed.  The ranges are looking a bit shaggy and need a lot of work.  Please make an effort to come out and help.  The more members we have the less time it will take to complete these projects.  Range Chits can be earned to pay towards membership dues, clays, and match fees.  For every two hours work you earn a $5.00 work chit.

2.  The Pro Shop will be open one hour after the General Membership Meeting.  We have all sizes and color of hats and shirts for both men and women.  The Pro Shop is located on the skeet range, the last building on the right.  It is open one hour before the general membership meeting and one hour after.

3.  Jim Edgington will be asking for volunteers in the next few months to sign up to help with Women On Target and the Youth Shoot.  Women On Target will be held on September 18, 2010.  The youth shoot will be the first Saturday in October.

Jim is a man of many talents when it comes to the shooting sports.  He is involved in the 4H Shooting Sports in Dothan, CMP Springfield Garand, and Hunter education.  Should you have need for his expertise, he would be more then happy to help you with what you need.  You can contact him by e-mail at aamsoldier@adelphia.com.

4.  Work is progressing in the new Training Facility.  Electricity is on and lights put up.  The latrines are framed up and we are taking estimates on plumbing.  We have a new refrigerator and micro-wave oven.  Please come out and see our facility!

5.  Due to lack of participation, the Ladies Tactical Match is cancelled indefinitely.

6.  The BOD decided at the last meeting to develop a Range Maintenance Committee.

The following is the first draft of what to expect.

Volunteers for the RMC will adopt one range/area to maintain by the following:

A.      maintain cleanliness

B.      Empty trash cans to central area

C.      Replace target backs/sticks

D.      Police any empty brass

E.      Cut grass on range only

F.      Improve range as desired

G.     Club will put sign on range to denote maintainer?

H.      Check range at least twice monthly with a one year contract

RMC members will receive a 50% reduction in club dues or $75 in match fees to use as desired (life members).

Vice Pres. (Ron Wagner) will serve as committee chairman and will issue dues discount or match fee cards if work is completed (or less if warranted, $25, $50)

 RANGE/AREAS

A.     25 yd Gen Purpose range

B.     50 ye Gen Purpose range

C.     Rifle range  (2 ea)

D.     Shotgun range  (trap)

E.     Law Enf. Range

F.     Pistol bay one  (bullseye)

G.     Pistol bay two and three   (small bays)

H.     Pistol bay four   (big bay)

I.       Pistol bay five and six    (hogan alley and car)

J.       Pistol bay seven   (shoot house)

K.      Pistol bay eight and nine   (plate range and Jungle run)

L.      Pistol range latrines

M.     Pistol complex range office and picnic area

N.      Large area grass cutting   (2 ea)

O.     Approx cost in lost club dues     14 @ $75 = $1050

P.      Drop Range Master position and change bylaws as required.

Please contact Ron Wagner at 334-475-4096 if you would like to volunteer to take care of a small part of our range.  More information will be posted on the web site as it becomes available.

7.  We are having a major safety issue on the Multi Purpose Range.  The 25 yard, 50 yard and Police Qualifying Ranges are considered ALL ONE RANGE!  When you are shooting at the 25 and 50 yard range, you must be aware of anyone on the other parts of the range.  These ranges are either all cold or all hot.  If you are on the 25 yard range and someone is on the 50 yard range, you must wait until the 50 yard range is cold to go down range to change targets!  Make sure if someone is on the other range you coordinate with them when you are going hot or cold.  If a member is shooting on the Police Qualifying Range the 25 and 50 yard ranges are closed!  BE AWARE OF WHAT IS GOING ON RIGHT NEXT TO YOU.  YOUR SAFETY IS AT RISK OR YOU MAY BE PUTTING SOMEONE ELSES SAFETY AT RISK!

RANGE REPORT:

FALLING PLATES/STEEL CHALLANE:   This match is on the first Sunday of every month.

Match fees are $10.00.

Here are the results of the match.  Though a little cold. We raised $50.00 for the club.

MODIFIEND SPORTING CLAYS:   Match is the second Sunday of every month.  Match fees are $10.00

Decembers match was cancelled due to lack of participation.  Hopefully the weather will cooperate and not be to cold!.

USPSA/IPSA:   Match is the Second Saturday of every month.  Match fees are $15.00.

Decembers match was cancelled due to the holidays and January’s match is cancelled due to the cold temperatures we are going to have.  18 degrees in the morning is just to cold to be out there setting up.  It is not suppose to be much over the 30 degree mark during the day!  To cold for us fair weather shootings!

SPECIALTY MATCH:  The 3rd Sunday of every month.  The match fee is $10.00.  The specialty match brings in the most money for the Club.  One hundred percent of the profits from this match go to the Club.

January is the beginning of the Specialty Match.  This months match will be Modified Clays.  There will be 5 stages.  One Teal Stage, One Rabbit Stage and three Regular Stages.  It should be a lot of fun!

These matches are designed with simple rules and equipment so new shooters can participate.  Please come out and try them.  They are a good way to learn the different shooting disciplines and meet other club members.  It will be a real learning experience and a lot of fun.  Come on out and support your club.  If you do not have the equipment there are always people who bring extra and are will to share.
