2 August Match
Modified By itento on 7/26/2009 2:34:08 PM)

This month we'll be doing a Steel Challenge match rather than a falling plates one.  Go to the Steel Challenge forum for rules, but basically we will run a pistol match from Bay 3, and a pistol caliber carbine/rifle match from Bay 2.  We done the pistol matches before and they will be unchanged.  Both will have 4 plate and a stop plate which must be shot last to stop the timer.  Penalities for shooting out of order.  The plate will be shot 5 time (reloading between strings allowed as necessary) and the best four will count toward a total time.  Best total time in division wins division.   We will have a division for all IDPA divisions plus Open and .22 rimfire open and iron sights only.  There will also be a single shot cowboy revolver division.  On Bay 2 we will run the pistol caliber carbine match.  Only difference is that the targets will be a little smaller and/or farther away.  Divisions are Open (optics, etc), iron sights only, cowboy, .22 cal rimfire open and .22 cal iron sights.   Allowable loads include .38 Spl, .357 mag (if downloaded to .38 Spl loads), 9mm, .41 mag (if downloaded), 44 Spl, .44 mag (if downloaded to .44 Spl) all cowboy calibers, .22 rimfire.  There may be other exceptions if approved by the Range Officer, but generally no magnum or other centerfire rifle loads will be allowed.

The match should run pretty fast (we've run 21 shooters in 1 1/2 hours).  Using 2 bays will make things run even faster.  Cost will be  $5.00 per run.

Re: 2 August Match
The Sunday Steel Challenge Match went really well.  We had 27 paid strings which brought in $135.00 for the club.  Best of all, I think everyone had a great time.  There is a lot of talent and I think this discipline could really catch on.  As I said in the club meeting, this is a great forum for new shooters and a good place for younger shooters to get into comnpetition.  There is no running, targets are fairly easy to hit, and feedback is immediate.  We ran several divisions: Stock Service Pistol, Revolver, Single Action Cowboy, .22 Rimfire, Pistol Caliber Carbine, and Western Carbine. Here are the results:
Place Name Division Time
1 Tony Ely SSP 17.12
2 Tony Ely SSP 18.11
